1. How did you feel during the duration of the whole interview? Did it change from the beginning to the end?

When the interview initially started, I was sufficiently confident about my preparations for the whole process. However, during the interview phase when questions are starting to come one after another, I began to feel very nervous which affected my ability to properly answer some of the questions. There were moments where I paused and had to think about what to answer which disrupted the overall confident atmosphere I had when the interview started.

2. What is your significant learning and realization during and after the interview?

I learned that there will be really unexpected occurrences such as criticisms, difficult questions, and “mental block” during a job interview which can affect one’s confidence and flow. During the interview, I saw that it was not just an ordinary present yourself type of situation but a more sophisticated and professional process. I realized the importance of maintaining a professional decorum in such types of interviews. With this in mind, I also realized that after the interview, I will be doing this soon in actuality as I look for jobs. Consistent preparation and building confidence are two things which I still need to practice and maintain after all that happened during the interview.

3. What were the suggestions given to you? Do you agree with them? How are you going to adjust to them?

The suggestions given to me was more pertained to a technical skill in managing software development. In essence, the suggestions were about being able to adapt to unexpected disruptions to software development in the areas of deployment and management. Due to the nature of technology and software as a whole, the process in creating and maintaining them constantly evolves or changes. In a sense, I agree with the feedback given to me as I am still new to the industry even after having a bit of work experience before. I plan on adjusting to the feedback by enrolling to various certification courses for software development management in the future.

4. With the suggestions and experience you had, what will you tell your past self to do for the interview?

I would tell my past self to be transparent and confident no matter the situation. You must keep your head high and do not let difficult questions and criticisms faze you. Instead, welcome these with open arms as these challenges will help you grow as a professional individual. Even if you lack a certain skill, ensure that you can change and learn or adapt and suggest a better alternative. Prepare sufficiently and just be yourself during the interview.
