Stalin rose to power once Lenin died and left the hands of the government to a competition between Stalin and Trotsky. Stalin did everything he could to take the power away from Trotsky. Stalin allied himself with two other men who helped him to prove that Trotsky was once very disloyal to Lenin and that Stalin would be the better leader. He gained a lot of control from manipulating the situation, and by the end, people began to feel threatened to challenge him. After the Russian revolution, Stalin finally rose to power.

Stalin took control of all privately owned farms and made them into large, government, communal farms. Farm owners and peasants who worked on the farms had to give up all their land and this led to a drastic drop in the living standards for many of the peasants and they started revolting with violent attacks. When Stalin realized this was not helping, he blamed it on the rich farm owners who had not given up their lands named called Kulaks. Due to this, many of them were shot and killed or but in camps where they would eventually die.

After Lenin died, there had to be a new ruler in Russia. Lenin he had to choose between two men, Stalin and Trotsky. Lenin had more issues with Stalin but Stalin worked with other leaders to prove Trotsky was unworthy. Stalin took full power after the Russian Revolution of 1917, when communism took over. This was a turning point because this was when Stalin got complete control and power. He now had the power to rule over Russia in all aspects, economically, socially, and politically. This idea is known as totalitarianism.
