My skills in SEO could however be improved, I feel as though I know a lot, however, when coming to do this work I did have to refresh my memory quite often. I believe SEO is a brilliant skill to have especially now that the internet is taking over when it comes to consumers. In hindsight, it's a skill I think I have nailed, but I could do with interacting with it more so it’s always fresh in my mind. However, it's small things like this I forget! Seeing it highlighted in the social media manager role for VeeCollective really reiterates that I should spend more time on this as it is a role I would like to do in the future, so SEO knowledge is very important to achieve that. Additionally, the same goes for social media. I feel like I say I have skills in social media as it’s within the generation I belong to, always on it. However, I wasn’t aware of how expensive social media is to use as a marketing tool until we went through it in a workshop, all the hidden costs associated! It was an eye-opener, and something I have since investigated more. Not only is this information useful for life after university, should I get a job within social media, but it is also useful for university assignments as I often suggest social media marketing as a cheap option for marketing when it simply is not! Although I wouldn’t consider knowing the costs associated with social media marketing a skill for the time being, it proves I don’t know as much as I claim to do. Another skill I identified for myself was communication. I feel like this is a skill have nailed due to my many years of working in hospitality, this helped with this project as I was paired with people I didn’t really know. I feel as though if I didn’t have this skill, I wouldn’t have contributed much within our group as I do think I can be rather shy when speaking to new people. In the end, I wasn’t scared to share my ideas and the people in my group were very welcoming to them too. I think I need to remember it was daunting for everyone to be paired with people they didn’t really know, and it wasn’t just me. A big skill I haven’t identified because I am terrible at is time management! I do it with every project, no matter how small or big and that is to leave it till the last minute. I will admit for this one, I started out strong, however with it running alongside FMP it did have to take a backseat for me to finish that one. This is something I seriously need to work on as it is vital when it comes to a job. However, with group work, it is more stressful as it is not just yourself you let down by being lazy, it's your group so I do feel like that helped from the start because I didn’t want to let anyone down.
