Angel

Nothing unfinished is completed
but a new beginning is made
and a new unfinished left behind.
They are now so many you cannot
finish counting them. 

But look upon this unfinished life
filled with the incomplete
as a completed whole,
not one that you cannot
live abundantly. 

In this abundant life,
in the moment before death,
a new poem could begin,
like the one begun years ago,
like the first poem you wrote.

No new unfinished should be seen as the last.

Farewell!

I am sending it off with all my fears

my doubts

My crippling self loathing

The monster hiding under my childhood bed

I am sending it off

Taunting trepidation trapping laughter in my throat

Catching joy in my teeth

Breaking my bones for how much they want to move

But won’t

I am sending it off

Suffocating somethings smothering in memories of long past times

Formless shadows on the walls

Of the cave I once called home

Too weak to survive outside it

I am sending it off

Harrowing horrors haunting and holding

Fast the chains

Cutting into my skin

So tight I fear I may break 

before they do

I am sending it off

For I am grown

Transformed

What once had hold

Can no longer grasp

No longer break

Time made it weak

And made me strong

And I am sending it off

Eyes wide at the horizon 

Cutting through sky

The sun dips its body to meet the sea

Like a tender

First kiss

Salted air bellows 

Cool and crisp

Rattles bones

Seeps into shriveled lungs

Whispers tunes

Into hollows of eyes

Speaking secrets too soft to hear

Last lingering gulls take leave

Life flees with fading light

Countless golden threads reach forth

Out of the wound in the sky

Fracturing and reflecting

Pointless over waves they

Sink

Bare feet burrowing

in warm sand

Hold fast

As night crawls in

It's soothing shroud

Unmends sky

Unbreaks dawn

A thousand thousand lights bloom

Scattered and sacred

Unmoving immortal guardians

of night

Twinkle in code a message

That this universe was made

To be seen by thine eyes

Am afraid

of myself
Terrified of who I can be

Of the words I can speak forth

Words that heal.

Words that invigorate.

Words that scathe.

Words that kill.

I fear for the

Words I may never give life to

The words I may never live up to

I fear for the words that are not mine

But they are for you

For those with ears

And souls

My words

Your words

And they are for me

For me and you to give

And be given

Words are a heavy burden

Even whispered they may bury

Mountains

When shouted

They may shake the world

I, like you 

Am afraid

Terrified

And I,

Like you

Will carry on

Nevertheless

They want you to not

Look

Not

See

And I think that is

A bit telling

Of how they want you

Asleep at the wheel

So you don’t notice

The check engine light blinking

As you swerve into traffic

Close your eyes 

Look away from what is unpleasant

Spare yourself the horror

Of thinking for yourself

Asleep at the wheel

as trans children fill up morgues

Asleep at the wheel

As they strip away your reproductive rights

Asleep at the wheel

As a rapist with ninety one criminal charges runs for president

Asleep at the wheel

As a genocide is funded by your tax dollars

Asleep at the wheel 

As the billionaire class robs you of your labor rights

Asleep at the wheel

As elected officials fail you time and time again

Asleep at the wheel

Because it’s easier, no?

To not look

To not witness, with your own

Eyes

Until you hit a wall

And realize

That you needed to see

You needed to be awake

Because you cannot overcome

What you refuse to

Look at

The end of the world

Entire generations hold their breaths

And cross fingers behind their backs

Please, get better

It’s not yet

The end of the world

Yet you cannot deny the bleakness stinking the air

Resignation seeping into the soil

As our ever beloved elite

Dance and celebrate

In lavish opulence

While children die

While families starve

While men die slaughtered by the day

Their coin is better spent i think

Listen I say

A deep rumbling from the earth

A cry low and steady

A ringing in the air

It shakes and moves

The soul

Rebellion is not lit aflame in a single night

It brews and boils

Bides its time and holds its breath

A track record I believe

Can speak for itself

I do not believe in

Nor can i condone
