Do a class or multiple through PSEO or 916 during your Junior and Senior year, don't procrastinate, don't do drugs, Do Police Explorers, JROTC, Boy Scouts, or something related to get a unique experience (all of which you can do throughout all of high school), and books are more important than you think. Above all work hard.

In high school, it's unlikely to share classes with those you are close with. At least, it's that way for me. I usually only have 1 or 2 classes that I share a class with a friend each semester. This may seem rather cliche and obvious, but when it comes to those like me who suffer from mental illness and school anxiety, it really helps to have something or someone to look forward to during the day. It makes everything else less of a chore, including the school work. Even if it's hard to make friends, trying is always worth it if it makes school less of a burden.

I recommend going to as many social events that you can as a freshman and continue to do it throughout high school. It doesn't matter if you have 1 friend or 10 friends, being social will make high school a lot more fun. There should be a balance between school and fun. Go to the sporting events, the dances, and be outgoing. Nobody will remember if you embarrass yourself so just branch out as best as you can because it will pay off.

I suggest doing your homework right when you get home. I understand getting home from school and wanting nothing to do with it, but the worst thing about homework is when it keeps you from getting to go to bed at the end of the day. Instead of sitting on Tik Tok at 3pm and wasting your afternoon you should try to get your homework done earlier so you can relax at night.

Try and connect with people. Get involved in activities and extracurriculars. Make a network of friends or even acquaintances that you will miss whenever you graduate. Being able to have interaction with other people beyond a core friend group is one of the most important things that you can do and it's something that I greatly regret not doing in high school.

My advice would be to not stress. Enjoy everything that comes your way and don't let anything ruin your fun. High school is meant to be fun and you're supposed to enjoy these four years of your life. Go to school events; participate the best you can by dressing up for spirit week or for the themes of the games. Keep up with your school work because your grades really do start to matter during high school. Don't slack or procrastinate so much or else you'll be extremely stressed. Surround yourself with people that you know actually want to be around you and hang out with you. Don't treat a friendship like a relationship. If your friend(s) are choosing to leave you out, forget about you, etc. let it be. You'll find a new group of friends to vibe with and call your actual friends. Don't take these years for granted because they will go by fast. Take it slow and enjoy everything before it's gone. You won't see many of these people again in your life once you graduate, so hang out with them the most you can! Most importantly, have fun and LOCK IN!!! When you're done with these four years, you'll find yourself looking back on these good old days and find yourself missing all the great times. Make senior year the best one yet, especially since it's your last one and especially since it's the year that will bring everyone together.
