Racial and ethnic discrimination occurs on a daily basis while impeding the progress of millions of people around the world. Racism and intolerance destroy lives and communities through their various manifestations, from depriving people of the fundamental principles of equality and non-discrimination, to fostering ethnic hatred that can lead to genocide.

The vast majority of educated and reasonable people today are I agree that racism is an evil, it is part of social evil. Despite which it has to recognize that racism is still present in our societies.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights says that all human beings are born free, with the same right to a dignified life and free from discrimination and degrading treatment.

Unfortunately, too many crimes caused by hatred and discrimination have occurred throughout history. But this doesn't have to be the reality we live in. From the civil rights movement in the United States in the 1960s to the fall of apartheid in South Africa, many people have come together to fight racism and discrimination with remarkable results.

But the work is not done and we all have a role to play. There are things we can do as individuals. We can also ask our leaders to put policies and programs in place to bring about lasting change in our communities.
