That was the question that came into my head when I was looking at Patricia Piccinini’s work - The Bond, 2016 in particular. Coupled with the idea that hybridisation can bring about more care and understanding inspired me to centre my world on hybridised oceanic creatures (Mimosa, M. & Nor, A., 2020). I think drawing is a great way to express my ideas and be able to physically depict what I am visualising in my head. My aim for my imaginary world is to highlight a sense of mystery and wonder surrounding my world and its hybrid creatures as I take on and encapsulate the perspective that humans will have and what they will feel, hear and see as they start to explore the world. I hope viewers of my work will be intrigued by my world and want to find out more about it. I also hope that it spurs them to think about the impact that humans have on the creatures and habitats around the world.
