Interest includes researching and going to the furthest extent to learn more about topics that you are passionate about. If not interested in a task or topic, a person will not give their all. A lack of interest can be the difference between a person making sure the job gets done or one's level of procrastination.

Practice
The act of trying a task over and over again. It includes identifying the things you need work on and taking it upon yourself to work at those tasks. You make a conscious effort to get back through repetition and dedication.

Purpose
When you know your purpose it makes it easier to keep going. Purpose gives you a target to aim for and a goal to achieve. This purpose will serve as constant motivation to make progress.

Hope
Hope is continuously fighting to get it done. When things get rough, the person with hope continues to push ahead. The Growth mindset is the mindset of the person who believes that this is just the beginning. They feel that they can always go further and that more is coming. They seek to prove nay-sayers wrong when doubted. and seek to do that in a dominant fashion.

The Fixed mindset makes a person believe that this is it. They lean towards the notion that nothing or no-one changes. What will be, will be is their mentality. Deion Sanders aka "Coach Prime" going to coach at The University of Colorado has definitely shown the characteristics of a gritty person in regards to his new coaching role. In his transition from coaching at Jackson State University (a HBCU), Deion received a tremendous amount of flack from the "Black" community and various media outlets. Very few were convinced that Coach Prime could have the same effect in his new role as he did in the previously existing role but due to his grit, he has now proven them wrong. The program that he inherited was not a winning program. In just four game thus far, he has led his team to a winning record thus far, further displaying grit and determination to prove that he is a winner.

Did Sanders practice a Growth Mindset

I must say that Coach Sanders did practice a Growth mindset. The program that he took on in his new coaching role wasn't a winner. Due to his winning spirit, goals and determination he and the team has persevered, pushed forward and turned the football program around for the better. He never got stuck in the idea of failure but kept a mentality of turning things around. His mindset was specifically on pushing the university's brand forward. You know this by the way he answers interview questions, his in locker-room speeches to his players and the way he coaches on and off the field.

When times get rough, grit forces you to keep pushing. It gives you the confidence to believe in your own abilities and gives you a feeling of accomplishment when completing a task. By utilizing grit, I will make a concentrated effort to maximize my learning opportunities.

The Growth mindset can contribute to me as a student because anything not growing is dead. As long as I think positive thoughts, the sky's the limit for what I can learn and retain. Having the confidence and belief that I can always accomplish more will keep me striving to gain more knowledge and education.
