Why was there an American Revolution?

• There was an American Revolution because people in the colonies got sick and tired of British rule. People got exhausted from the British controlling their laws and taxing everything. The Revolution happened because people stood up for what they felt needed to change and convinced enough people to fight back.

• What events led to the American Revolution? 
  • Britain overtaxed the colonies in acts like the stamp act
  • Britain forced and blaming the colonial people to pay for the French and Indian war 
  •  Britain taking government control from the people 
  • Britain forced the people to help take care of Britain soldiers in the Quartering act
  • Britain and colonial people got into small fights that resulted in multiple death such as the Boston massacre. 
  • Boston Tea party which spirited people to resist

• The declaration was structured with the main introduction explaining itself and a middle body with multiple sections ending with a strong conclusion. It was structured like this because it is a convincing strong format to write something in that wasn't too hard to understand.

What principles of government are expressed in the Declaration of Independence? 

• The principles of government expressed in the declaration were an equal voice in the country and the right for the people to vote on what they thought. 
• The purpose of the government is to protect and make sure that the rights stated in the declaration are held tightly and kept for the people and not withheld.

What were the strengths and weaknesses of the British versus the Continental Army?

• The Continental army had the strength of fighting on their own land and had lots of dedicated backers. France was also helping them. The Continental army's weaknesses were the fact that most of the soldiers were random untrained people and they had a large lack of resources. 
• The British army had the strength of an actual government backing them. They also had tons of resources, more troops, and Native Americans backing them. Their weakness was that they were being controlled by a bad leader halfway across the world and the people back in England did not support the war.

• What were the  African Americans, Women, and Native Americans' relationships with the Revolutionary war?
  • Native Americans backed the British army in the war because Britain did not want to expand further into their land so the Native Americans helped Britain.
  • Women's role in the revolutionary war was helping the injured, and cooking for the soldiers, and some even went to the extent of trying to fight. 
  • African Americans' role in the revolutionary war was mostly in fighting. Lots of black slaves signed up to help fight in the war to gain their freedom.  
• How was the Continental army able to win the war for independence from Great Britain?
  • The Continental army won because France helped provide money troops and supplies and the continental army was fighting on their own land. The Continental army fought very fiercely and in the end at the battle of Yorktown eventually, Britain just gave up.
