You were trained to trust the surface. Now, it’s the last place you should be.

In Surface Is a Lie, players explore a vast alien ocean where light deceives, silence stalks, and every depth hides a secret. After a mysterious breach in a deep-sea research facility, you must survive alone — navigating bioluminescent reefs, trench ruins, and the haunting presence of apex predators.

🧠 Core Features

Atmospheric Exploration: Traverse surreal underwater biomes filled with glowing coral, ancient wreckage, and shifting currents.

Creature Encounters: Face off against intelligent predators like the Titanic Megalodon, Eidolon Mosasaur, and Stingerclaw — each with unique behaviors and weaknesses.

Survival Mechanics: Manage oxygen, sonar interference, and hull integrity while solving environmental puzzles and uncovering lost data.

Lore-Driven Mystery: Discover encrypted logs, alien relics, and the truth behind the surface’s deception.

Optional Co-op Mode: Team up with another diver to explore and survive — or split up to cover more ground.

What to Expect:

This is a non-commercial project — we’re not planning to sell the game.

If it works out, we’ll release it for free, playable in-browser.

We’re aiming for cross-platform compatibility, including older mods dating back all the way to 2010.

Graphics will be decent but lightweight — atmospheric, not ultra-realistic.

We’re all learning as we go, so it’s a great space to grow your skills and collaborate.

Co-op mode where you and your friends explore the whole world freely, build bases, survive together, and trigger emergent events.

Predator-based progression — you unlock suits and gear based on surviving apex creatures like the Titanic Megalodon or Eidolon Mosasaur.

Customization tied to discovery — your avatar evolves based on what you find, not just what you craft.

And the whole vibe is darker, more atmospheric, and built around the idea that the ocean itself is misleading you.

So yeah, it’s in the same genre, but we’re pushing it in a new direction. It’s not a clone — it’s a reimagining of what underwater survival horror can be.
