General theory: He developed the Thurstone Scale a new factor analysis technique.

Strength: He discovered 7 different independent factors and coined them as primary abilities which was mathematically supported with a complex algorithm and was supported by the g factor, he just expanded it.

Weakness: It was debated whether 7 factors was too narrow of an assumption and that there could have been more than only 7.

General theory: g-factor theory, the notion that an underlying general intelligence is the foundation for which intellectual abilities arise.

Strengths:
IQ test, which measures this g factor concept, is seen as a reliable measure of general cognitive ability and has withstood the test of time.

Weaknesses:
Some people display incredible intelligence in one aspect, like remembering an entire city landscape and being able to draw it from memory, but may lack intelligence in other areas. Seems to disprove the general intelligence theory.

General Theory:
Best known for theory of multiple intelligences. Include musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bloodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, and existential. In his theory, they operate independently.

Strength:
Identifies the complexity of human intelligence.

Weakness:
Some theorists argue that there is no definitional justification to call these categories. They are simply skill sets. Psychologists have also found high correlations between different types of intelligences, not the low correlation that Gardner argues.
