Create cards with the words or write them/present them on board. During the story have children act out the movement. It can be used to support unit learning goals by building academic vocabulary, language structures and communication skills around themes. For example when studying community helpers children can learn roles of community member by acting out their roles (i.e. firefighters, doctors, grocery store staff, bakery staff, etc.)

Strategy- when introducing a new unit (water) I ask the children what they know about it, in small groups within the Large group, (like turn and talk in groups of 3-4 children) what they agree and disagree learning from each other first. this helps activate their prior knowledge and it helps me build upon what they know, or would like to know. I have ELL so this helps them a lot to communicate with each other first.
