Retirement date got changed and changed due to COVID-distancing, I believe. The date the teacher retired and job opened, I selected, and that night, the hiring freeze hit!

I’m devastated to leave my 8th graders- yes, I LIKE that age! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m cut without the pool because AD/District insisted. My school tried to at least slide me into another grade level position that is getting filled, but district said, ‘Nope, hired after Aug 14’. I would hazard a guess that AD planned this based on the fact that the hiring window opened 14 Aug and that just happens to coincide with the Temp Hire status...

Not impressed with his priorities. I’ve seen nothing that suggests he is putting educational ‘best practices’ at the forefront of his decision making."

They wanted to go as a group to speak at the board meeting. I had students in tears asking how they were going to pass math without my class because this was the first time they had ever passed their math class. I had students call me traitor. I had students declare they would burn down the school. I had students threaten to throw furniture. I have looped with these students and have had some for 3 years. I KNOW these kids. I LOVE these kids. I asked to teach these kids. I call them MY kids.

For almost 2 weeks, I was jerked around with the uncertainty of my unit loss because of this district's lack of transparency. Addison Davis lies to the public and then runs OUR district - NOT HIS - like a tyrant. It's like living in our own, personal North Korea. He is toxic and deserves to be terminated. The school board must be replaced with people who actually CARE about students, teachers, and staff, and not approve of reorganizing budgets so that they can remodel their offices on the backs of demoralized and fired teachers. How dare any of them call themselves educators or say they care about us. They are not worthy of this profession and they should tuck tail and run away in shame. Stay strong, my teacher friends and colleagues. We are better than they are, and it will come to light. Teachers were cut over teachers that had less experience. The union is useless. They make excuses and don’t help. I am leaving the profession after this. Thanks Davis.
