-Farm Foremen (175): The farm foreman reacted violently to the strike and went as far as beating them. They also hired security guards to join in their intimidation campaign.

-Sheriff Roy Galyen (176): The sheriff was opposed to the strike because of the outbreaks of violence that occurred as it went on (despite Chavez's insistence on nonviolence). Galyen wanted strikers arrested.

-Mothers Against Chavez (177): This was a group created by the growers when they realized that the strikers were gaining power and they needed to form their own groups to counter protest. These counter protests had little impact.

-DiGiorgio Corporation (179): This corporation was opposed to the strike because of the boycott against them. They were having a financial setback due to the boycott.

-Ronald Reagan (185): Reagan used his political allies such as the Board of Agriculture, to hurt the strike. The Board launched a public relations campaign to discredit the boycott. California was being impacted financially by the strikers and Reagan wanted it stopped.

-Richard Nixon (185): Nixon had similar interests as Reagan, and labeled the boycott "illegal."

Sharp, Gene. Waging Nonviolent Struggle.
