Is it possible to have the same style, convenience and efficiency with a fully electric boat? The answer is yes. It is becoming more and more of a reality to be able to have fully-integrated solar boats. The problem is not getting the electricity, but keeping the electricity and being able to have electrical storage that is capable of sustaining itself out on the high seas. Shade and cloud cover reduce the output and there is not way to put a charging station out in the middle of the ocean, so being able to maintain power is important. Technology is getting better and better and it is not a matter of if, but when, electrical storage is up-to-par with the technology of today. 

Cloud cover, shade and even salt water are all things that were problems only a few years ago, but the technological capacity is there. We just have to it and the M.S. PlanetSolar is the first step toward that. A 6000-passenger cruise ship, with a goal of 2020 to set-sail.
