         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) "The nursing process, reflecting the standards of practice identified by the ANA that RNs use in patient care, has six steps: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation" (Claywell, 2014, p. 88).&nbsp; The concept of planning is one that must be fully understood in order to be a successful leader. &nbsp; Nurses claiming a leadership role will use this concept to form objectives, evaluate the current condition and anticipate ultimate trends and events, devise a planning statement, and translate the plan into an action statement (Sullivan, 2013).&nbsp;<br><br>2) The concept of delegation is vital to ensuring optimal care delivery as a registered nurse in the leadership role.&nbsp; It is a difficult leadership skill for nurses to learn.&nbsp; Transferring responsibility or authority for achieving certain tasks to another individual will favor the nurse in many ways.&nbsp; It will enable the nurse to devote more time to tasks that cannot be delegated, especially complicated patient care.&nbsp; In doing this, "patient care is enhanced, the nurse's job satisfaction increases, and retention is improved" (Sullivan, 2013, p. 132).&nbsp;<br><br>In the context of kangaroo care, mastering the concepts of planning and delegation will enable the nurse to ensure the education is provided in an appropriate and time efficient manner.</div>]]></description>
