• The band was known for performing with Revolutionary War-style clothes in their attire.  

• The Raiders were the first rock band to be signed with Columbia Records, and had a lot of band members throughout its time.

• In the 1960s, music tastes were beginning to evolve. Because of this, the band shortened their name to “The Raiders.” They also made their music more serious and modern rock. In the end, this didn’t help them stay common and popular. 

• In the 1980s, the band ended, and the lead singer, Mark Lindsay, hosted the radio show called American Revolution in Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SeriesXM. 

This song emphasizes how the English took away Native American culture and the Native Americans' resilient response of how they would rise again. The artist’s purpose for writing this song was to illustrate how the Cherokee tribe specifically endured discrimination regarding their culture while being placed in reservations. Overall, this song's message is to emphasize resilience and strength and how, even though one could endure adversity, one could continue to rise and come back even stronger.

The song begins with mentioning how the English placed the Cherokee tribe in reservations and took away their ability to practice their culture and religion. In this stanza, emotion is used to convey the idea of how Native Americans should be free to practice their culture and religion as they have been under control by the English. Then, The Raiders talk about the Cherokee's strength and how they are proud of who they are, whether they are alive or not. Finally, the song ends with The Raiders stating that the Native American tribe will return. The support that is used consists of facts regarding reservations and how the English mistreated Native Americans. The song uses the words return, proud and nation to emphasize strength and perseverance. These lyrics reveal how large the value of the listeners is in regarding that they must be able to see that they can believe in whomever or whatever they would like. Finally, in the song, there is a phrase regarding a stereotype about Native Americans and how they wouldn't wear a "shirt and tie."

"Indian Reservation" emphasizes the idea that everyone should have free will. This song values equality, and treating everyone as you would want to be treated, and to respect that everyone's opinions and beliefs. In addition, "Indian Reservation" by The Raiders values non-conformity and revenge as the Native Americans were forced into reservations, but they never fully conformed to the English. Along with this, The Raiders emphasize revenge at the end of the song as it says how the Native Americans say they will return. This is not good or bad revenge, it is just stating that they will retaliate.

• The intended audience for this song is anyone who needs to know that they should never be ashamed of what they believe in, and how strength is necessary to persevere through adversity. This song's intended audience was also Native Americans and to not only encourage them during hardship, but to show what they have been through. 

• I would categorize this song as classic rock. 

• Although this wasn't the cause of writing the song, during the year 1971 the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act removed all Native Americans from Alcatraz Island. During this time there has been a lot of protests by Native Americans that the government would honor their tradition and culture.
