The war ended in a Republican victory and San Jose was named capital of Costa Rica, and remained in the Federal Republic of Central America.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Filibuster War (1856-1857)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Filibusters were irrigation soldiers who normally act without official authority from their own government, and are generally motivated by financial gain, political ideology, or the thrill of adventure. The campaigns were led by a man named William Walker. During the war Costa Rican troops entered  Nicaraguan territory and inflicted a defeat on Walker's men at the Second Battle of Rivas, in which Juan Santamaría, later to be recognized as one of Costa Rica's national heroes by burning the place where the Filibusters were sheltered .</div>]]></description>
