This creates the social construct of people thinking to look messy is to be messy or to look nice means you must have a nice house, nice car, a good career/job. However, to teach the whole child, we must know the whole child. Maybe the mom works 40+ hours a week and can afford that. White savior complex. Not listening to the parent when they showed up. Showing up for a meeting is commitment to supporting their child. The teacher doesn't see it as that and is disregarding their actions to forward their own agenda.
