This might be an extension of my Indian cultural roots, that is cause for this sort of consideration but I’d imagine my bench in a place that is both private and open and inviting to others to join me in conversation and in a sense of community. Community is what makes a place and a sense of home 😊]]> 2022-05-22 17:52:49 UTC https://padlet.com/cherry1999677/p76on1cywl6w2pbu/wish/2194680658 https://padlet.com/cherry1999677/p76on1cywl6w2pbu/wish/2194685693 The way art and culture I.e. how it is depicted at Lucy often drives me insane, because to me it’s such an opportunity to build this sense of ‘inclusiveness’ the college boasts of through the day-to-day experience and yet they seem to fail in doing so. This painting is of the Indian culture but I recognise it as such because it’s my culture, there is no explanation nor much of a credit given to the artist, there is also no curatorial sense so to speak in why they have randomly placed it in one of the inside study room corridors. Further around in the college porcelain from china and little jars picked from the East have been placed in glass cases and on top of a mantle/pedestal, in many ways othering these cultures.
