The Samaritan woman was also an outcast which Jesus would have known because she was by herself at the well. Samaritans go to the well with friends and family to talk about what's going on in their lives. The Woman has had five husbands so her people outcast her. Jesus Talked with her anyway. The Fact that Jesus talked to her shocked the woman.

Jesus convinced the Woman that he was the Messiah guessing she has had five husbands and was an outcast she had not told Jesus this and Jews don't talk to Samaritans so he couldn't have known this if he wasn't the Messiah. He then talked about how if she had asked him for water it would be living water.
