I grew up in a tiny village in the midlands of Ireland called Durrow, near Tullamore - the place the famous Book of Durrow was written in the 7th Century - but I moved to Dublin to study at UCD when I was 18. 

Dublin is quite small with a compact City Centre and interesting neighbourhoods dotted around it, each with its own character. I live in one of these "villages", the red-brick village of Ranelagh, which was subsumed by the city as it spread outwards. Ranelagh is just one street and is well known for its restaurants and cafés.

I love living in Dublin - despite the expensive rent - because of its lively cultural scene and I'm particularly proud to be a part of the Irish language community of the city.
