This is an example of women working as police officers, because of the lack of men.

Their role was to mantain discipline in factories, etc. and to be awared of the women that stole anything. They also patrolled the citiess.

War nurses

This five women belonged to the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry. This was a group of women who did this for charity.

It was formed as a first aid link between the front lines at the war and hospitals. They were trained for the worst situations they could imagine. Whenever a soldier or anyone was hurted, each women carried one and rode a horse to the nearest hospital. But in the IWW, they used ambulances instead of horses, although the main idea was to use horses.

These posters were very common during the war years. They inquiered women to help men in the war tooking on male roles such as arm manufacturing.

This women worked for example on the creation of masks, so the soldiers wouldn't get intoxicated. Other women worked with the creation of ammunition or in the farms to provide food. They did any work they could.

Women’s Royal Naval Service or The Wrens

This was a group of British women created in 1917. It included cooks, weapons analysists, radar plotters, etc. After a while it dissolved, but then, it reappeared during the IIWW.

Women's Royal Air Force (WRAF)

This was a group of women which first appeared in 1918. They were considered to be an auxiliary organization with the objective of providing female mechanics in order to free up men for service. However women started applying for any kind of job, such as drivers and mechanics. The last two veterans were Glady Powers and Florence Green, who died approximately four years ago.

Two years after being created, it dissolved, but during the IIWW it appeared again.

Women's Land Army

These women joined together to provide extra agricultural work. This was because the goverment feared that if the war broke out, there would be a food shortage. So lots of lands started to be used in order to produce more food.
