He was born on May 19, 1925, with the name Saloth Sar, which he later changed to Pol Pot. He was born from relatively successful parents who had a bit of wealth to them although they had nine children, Pol being the eighth. Pol Pot was well educated as a child and moved on to receive a scholarship for a school in Paris where he then developed new ideas and way of life.
