The textile industry had a huge transformation during the Industrial Revolution, thanks to some key inventions:

Spinning Jenny (1764).

Invented by James Hargreaves, it had a huge Impact in the industrial revolution. The spinning jenny enabled a single worker to spin several spools of thread at one time. The Production was significantly enhanced by this invention, as it decreased the amount of labour needed to do the spinning and, as a consequence, lowered the price of yarn, which made textiles cheaper.

Water Frame (1769).

Invented by Richard Arkwright, the water frame used water power to drive the spinning process, producing stronger and finer yarn than the spinning jenny. It opened the way for the setting up of big factories near sources of water and as consequence fostered the factory system.

Power Loom (1785).

The power loom mechanized the weaving process, making a considerable increase in the rate and efficiency of textile production. It reduced the dependence on skilled hand weavers and helped to develop textile mills as a main point for industrial towns.

Separate Condenser (1765)

Watt developed the separate condenser that let the steam cool off in its own chamber, which helped keep the heat from getting wasted like it did in older designs.

This new concept made the steam engine almost a third to half less in fuel consumption.

Double-Acting Engine (1782)

By building the double-acting engine, Watt could make that the steam moved the piston in both directions, instead of moving in only one direction. Which increased the power output and made the engine much more flexible for different uses.

Rotary Motion (1781)

Watt's introduction of the sun-and-planet gear converted the up-and-down motion of the piston into rotary motion. Making the steam engines very ideal for powering machinery in factories, mills, and other industrial locations.

Watt's steam engines were a defining point for the textile mills and factories, driving the the industrial revolution forward, also being used in transportation, the steam engine was super important powering early trains and ships.

The Bessemer process was a way of blowing air through molten pig iron to remove impurities in the form of carbon, silicon, and manganese. Besides purifying the iron, this also increased the temperature, keeping it molten, and with that allowing the production of steel. The Bessemer process was of great importance in reducing the cost and the time to produce steel, making it usable for many purposes in industry.

The first cheap industrial method of producing steel on a mass scale was the Bessemer process. Steel had previously been a very labor-intensive and expensive material. The process made possible producing high-quality steel with fewer impurities. The steel was much stronger and longer-lasting than iron.

The iron rails were replaced by steel, because of its better durability and efficiency for the railroads. Longer-lasting steel parts were also an advancement for ship performance and, much later, for automobiles.

The Stockton and Darlington Railway was the first railway opened in England in 1825. It was the first public railway to use steam engines. The Liverpool and Manchester Railway soon adopted the steam engine in 1830. This demonstrated how useful trains could be in transporting goods and people.
After seeing that the railway innovation worked in Britain, countries such as Belgium, France, and Germany began to built their own rail systems. For example, Belgium opened its first railway in 1835, connecting Brussels with Mechelen.

By the mid-19th century, national railway networks were being built more and more. The German railway system developed from 5,000 km in 1850 to more than 37,000 by 1880, connecting the major movement of coal, iron, and other industrial material.
The railways helped in moving raw materials to factories and finished goods to markets with ease, consequently, making a big economic impact, by increasing industrial production and trade. The railways also reduced the time taken and cost of transporting farm products to city markets, reducing the price and making them more accessible.

Edison was a proponent of direct current (DC) for the distribution of electrical power. It flows steadily in one direction, and that was just fine for short distances and small-scale applications.
In the late 1870s, Edison developed the first practical incandescent light bulb, which could be used in homes and businesses.

In 1882, Edison opened the first commercial power plant in New York City, which started supplying DC electricity to nearby homes and businesses

In contrast, Tesla promoted alternating current AC but one that oscillates in a cycle of reversing periodically. AC allows the transportation of electricity over distances without losing much energy and, as a consequence, afford most efficient means of high-voltage power transmission.

Tesla worked on the AC induction motor and transformer, which were both essential for the efficient generation and distribution of AC power.

Until the transatlantic telegraph cable, communication between Europe and North America was limited to ship-borne messages, which could take weeks to deliver.

The first successful transatlantic telegraph cable was completed on July 27, 1866. Led by Cyrus West Field, this project that had seen several failed attempts before, now was finally laying the cable from Valentia Island in Ireland to Heart's Content, Newfoundland.

The transatlantic cable made it possible to communicate almost instantaneously across the Atlantic, reducing by a lot the time needed to send messages.

Alexander Graham Bell was granted the telephone patent, on 7 March 1876. His invention transmitted the human voice electrically over wires, while before, telegraph could only send coded messages.

On March 10, 1876, he made the first successful call, which was a to his assistant, Thomas Watson, where he said the famous sentence: "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you". The telephone was a big revolution to the communication landscape, it made it possible to have real-time voice conversations over great distances. The telephone quickly became an instrument of necessity for personal and business interactions, which by 1877 led to the establishment of the Bell Telephone Company.
