Failure, in both professional and personal dimensions, is the inability to act with integrity, respect, and reciprocity in human relationships. In the workplace, abusing power or not being a good colleague not only makes you a bad person but also alienates you from others and deteriorates the work environment. On a personal level, a lack of reciprocity and empathy distances you from those who could trust you, becoming your own obstacle to growth and genuine connection with others.

Failure, to me, isn’t about making mistakes or falling short of a goal. It’s about not trying at all. It’s about letting fear dictate my choices, holding myself back because I’m too afraid of the outcome.

I’ve failed plenty of times messed up, fallen flat on my face, made choices I regretted. But when I look back, those weren’t really failures; they were lessons. They were steps forward, even if they felt like setbacks in the moment. The only times I truly failed were the moments when I let doubt win, when I let perfectionism keep me from even starting.

Failure isn’t about losing. It’s about refusing to play the game at all. Because as long as I’m trying, learning, growing.

Failure is not always in getting it wrong, but in believing that you are doing it wrong. At 25, I realise that academically, professionally and personally, the problem is often not the mistake itself, but the perception we have of it. Failing a subject, losing a job or ending a relationship can feel like failures, but what's really limiting is the idea that these stumbles define us. In the end, rather than avoiding the mistake, it is about learning to see it differently and moving on.

Failure can be seen as when things don’t go as planned, but it also presents an opportunity to improve and try again. Whenever something "fails," we always learn something new that helps us continue evolving. In this sense, I would say that, for me, the greatest failure is not having tried something out of fear of failing.

Failure per se is a bad outcome (on a positive way of thinking, you decide what a bad outcome is). If I have to explain it deeper is when you don't meet the expectations that you or the others/or the society have imposed.

Failure is the first step towards success, the second is recognizing it and having the humility to learn from it. It's a fundamental growth promoter at all levels, even if it often makes us feel the opposite and brings us down, but in the end it's all part of a process of acceptance and the ability to understand what led us to fail. Someone who doesn't fail, (who doesn't recognize their failure), lives in stagnation, doesn't evolve and their failure begins right there. We always try to avoid failure and want to do things well, we must always do our best, failure will make us feel worse than success, but we must see it as an opportunity because a journey of success is made up of many falls. We will fail many times, what makes the difference is how we deal with it.

For me, failure is a state we adhere to, with two facets: the immutable and the mutable. The mutable is when I haven't met my objectives due to decisions I've made myself, but I have the opportunity to learn, redirect, and continue. The immutable is when my decision-making power is limited, and I have no control over situations external to my objectives. Sometimes, not everything in life is a learning experience; sometimes, we simply fail.
