How does a child of genius fit into the world of his peers or even of his parents?

I feel a lot of pressure is put on children of genius. I would not classify myself as a genius however I know I am very intelligent. As I have expressed before I have had I.Q. tests throughout my childhood. I have been told numerous times that i am classified as a genius, however, there are certain areas of education that I struggle in, for example math. Scientifically I feel i am very gifted. Due to the stereotypes that have been placed on me throughout my life my parents and family placed a much higher expectancy on me opposed to my brother and sister. My parents and family have also made sure to express disappointment in me and the path that I have chosen in life prior to now. I was expected to do what I am doing education wise long before now, and especially my father made sure to express it to me every time I have spoken to him for the last 18 years since I graduated high school. As far as my peers go, I found much more acceptance and support in my intelligence than my family, which I would have thought the opposite.

Is a prodigy the product of nature or nurture?

I feel a prodigy is a mixture of nature and nurture. I feel that certain people are born with advanced intelligence, however I believe that it also requires the provisions to advance ones intelligence or to reach maximum potential. Just because someone learns to read early in life or can play piano by ear for example, if they are not provided the instruments to exercise their gift they cannot develop it. That is why I feel that if it is not equally nature and nurture, i feel it requires a good bit on both sides to develop the prodigy or genius factor.
