I decided to use padlet as my way of representing the psychosocial dimensions portion of the project. For this portion, I decided to use one of the clients that I am currently working with. I chose to use her because she has had a series of trauma growing up that I believe has impacted her current behavior. My project highlights my client's trauma of parental drug and alcohol abuse, witnessing domestic violence as a child, and child abuse.

My client witnessed domestic violence, parental substance abuse and was the victim of child abuse. These factors have influence her behavior by also falling victim to the same cycles in her own life. She is also involved in a domestic violence relationship with her partner, abuses drugs and alcohol and has neglected her children to the point that they are now in foster care.

My client was unable to develop the proper coping mechanisms to deal with the trauma that she witnessed and experienced growing up. According to Hutchinson (2015), there is research to support that the links between early life experiences and physical and mental health risks. Negative early life experiences are correlated to health and mental health problems (Hutchinson, 2015).

My visual representation also depicts the interaction between the different factors because it also visualizes and mentions how my client's parents were drug abusers and she is also one too. This indicates and highlights that drug abuse is also a biological factor and an individual may have more a predisposition for becoming a drug and alcohol abuser based on their family history and genetics.

I believe that the best theory to describe this dimension would be the psychodynamic perspective. My client's needs, drives, and emotions motivate her current behavior. Her inability to cope with past trauma has found solace in drugs and alcohol. This has lead her to to need and become dependent on substances in order to get through her every day activities. However, I also believe the systems perspective also can be used because it can describe my client's interactions with her early childhood experiences and family life to explain her current behaviors in that she has fallen into the same cycle as her parents.
