The time period in this book is in the fourthteenth century in England. The setting is having many cottages within villages that have farms and dirtroads to walk on with no thechnology or transportation like we have today. The setting looks like an old village with cottages and dirt roads with farms near with wild animals roaming around and farms trying to provide as much food and drinks they can to the poor village with many cottages. You see kids and adults have no place to go or eat anything for days unless begging the "wealthy" ones in the village for food and drinks. It sounds like many people talking on the roads while animals are "talking" and making sounds.

Since this takes place in England in the 14th century there are many differences and similarties between the time periods and America. One difference is that in the 14th century there was many cottages creating villages that were very unstable and weak since there wasn't enough wood to create a house or stronger place to live. In this time period there is no more cottages we have houses within towns that are very stable and provide a healthy, and happy living. Another difference was that there was no technology at all so this would affect everyone because first you can't communicate from your house to someone living on the other hand using a phone you would have to walk and talk in person compared to now which has phones, computers, watches, etc. From this technology we can communicate very far using phones or computers by texting, facetimeing, and calling the person you are trying to reach. One similarty is they have ointments which is like a medicine where it helpes you medically or used as a cosmetic. Back then it was used as a medicine because there isn't like aspirin or tylenol there but it was medicine to help people feel better from being sick. I predict that Alyce will quit her job soon as a midwife's apprentice for a few reasons. One reason is that she is gaining so much knowledge about the world around her that she wants to explore by herself and have a better life. This reminds of my friend's dog who passed away last year and he was very dear to my heart. From everytime of me going over there I always show it some love by petting him in the special spot that his tail wag which shows he was very happy. During that time I would sing one of m favorite songs to him and make him get on his hind legs and me grabbing his paws and dancing around. This makes me wonder if some kids in the town don't have a "life" with food and water ot shelter and have to live on there owns with pretty much no one to help them. I feel bad for this boy becuase in the book it said he looked about 6 and for a six year old to be begging for food and a way to make money is pretty depressing for not having a family to help him grow up. I predict that the boy will keep returinging to Alce for bread and water becuase of his age and not being old enough to work at a this job. From this he will not be able to mantain a living with being able to provide food and water for himself. During this situation this reminds of being involved in many sides to a story, I can see this because when there is people sharing out their perspectives they make you want to be on their side between the midwife staying with her and not going any where and forced to work while Matthew wants her help deeply to help save the baby for Matthew's mom. If I was the character I would also feel very defeated because I didn't accomplish something that's I wanted to do by myself and show others I am capable of taking the responsibility. I don't like how the author didn't really describe the transition between Alyce quitting being the midwife's apprentice and going into staying at the inn where she is now living temporally and helping the owner's with things that need to be done in the inn. She is a girl who looks 12 or 13 and is homeless with no family to comfort her. She is very poor and dresses in the least expensive clothes and eats the littlest of foods.But with help of being hired for a job she is able to work and have a living for the help of the owners wife. 

2) A secondary character was the midwife who Alyce used to work with. She is important because she was the one that made Alyce tried to do things on her own to prove others she doesn´t need help anymore. Lastly she is important because made Alyce find another loving job Alyce enjoyed and stopped working for her.

3) The problem or the conflict the book is Alyce trying to find a home  and make a living to survive for her. Also one problem is that she is trying to find a living and job to have comfort.

4)The main character is trying to solve the problem by finding open jobs and ways she can at least earn food and water, to survive this time period and in the environment.

5) Some things I like about the book is how this girl is around my age and I can relate to her by having maturity and helping others when they need it. I also the prompt of the story and how I can imagine this environment and the setting she is in when the author really describes it well.

6) Something I don like about my book is the transition of how Alyce quit being the midwife´s apprentice and started to work at the inn where she felt very comfortable about.
