Poaching is animals being hunted and killed illegally. It is illegal because if poaching is done, it may cause a major change in the ecosystem. One example of poaching and causing a change in the ecosystem is hunting sharks for their fins. Once the poachers cut of the shark’s fins, they release it back into the ocean to die, just so some rich guy can have a bowl of soup. This causes a major change in the ocean ecosystem.

This can be achieved by encouraging people to recycle properly, participate in cleanup events, trying to avoid using single use plastics and other tasks like supporting bans on certain products and also encouraging others to take action and notice towards the issue. Like getting them to try and use less single use plastic items for their food. Also presenting the issue to higher profile people may help towards the issue due to their popularity to help raise awareness and their influence to help take action

In fact, plastic pollution is one of the most serious threats to the ocean. Plastic does not degrade; instead, it breaks down into progressively smaller pieces, but never disappears. They then attract more debris. It poses a significant health threat to the various sea creatures, and to the entire marine ecosystem. Overall, plastic is the number one source of pollution in the ocean

Carbon dioxide concentrations have increased by 40% since pre-industrial times, primarily from fossil fuel emissions. The ocean has absorbed about 30% of the emitted carbon dioxide, causing ocean acidification which is steadily impacting ocean life as well. Future global climate change indicates that continued emissions of greenhouse gases will cause further warming and changes in all components of the climate system. Limiting climate change will require substantial and sustained reductions of greenhouse gas emissions

However, only a small percentage of oil (around 12%) dumped in the ocean comes as a result of actual oil spills. Most oil causing harm in the ocean is a result of drainage from land. Oil spills suffocate marine life to death, and leads to behavioral changes and a breakdown in thermal insulation to those that do survive. It essentially changes the entire ecosystem of an affected area, such as a long coastline or deep ocean.

This can be achieved by encouraging people to recycle properly, participate in cleanup events, trying to avoid using single use plastics and other tasks like supporting bans on certain products and also encouraging others to take action and notice towards the issue. Like getting them to try and use less single use plastic items for their food. Also presenting the issue to higher profile people may help towards the issue due to their popularity to help raise awareness and their influence to help take action.
