During this month I got my service hour “contract” I will be tutoring Math. The Photo is displayed below. I have been thinking about my Informed Actions and one of them that I think can count is in Robotics Club we are doing a community event to teach kids about STEM. Also I emailed the 5K run company from Conant to try and work the cause for Conant 60 Years.

October Update (1st Informed Action/CEP Hours)

During October, I got 6.5 hours of service hours through Math tutoring. A picture will be linked below. During tutoring, I had many different experiences with tutoring kids in Math. I realized how exciting it is to help people, put a smile on their faces, and give students a better experience than what the stigma behind math is. Helping students in tutoring, I got comments like… “You explained it so much better than how the teacher did,” “I like the way you explained it,” and “That makes much more sense the way you showed the concept behind the derivative and the second derivative.” Being a part of Math tutoring helped other students see their potential in math and achieve greater success on their tests.

I also volunteered to participate in the Conant Robotics STEM Fair for 3 Hours in October. I was a part of running the Vex Build section and partially helped out with Vex Code. We set up the STEM Fair on a Saturday, offering a robotics game on Applied Tech Computers, a real-life arena where robots could battle, and much more. Teaching kids and talking to parents how to build robots that move back and forth has taught me the importance of guidance and how much it means to someone’s life when someone helps another person. The rate at which kids excel with the help of a supporter is instrumental to a greater society because through help comes a quicker rate of growth and greater outcomes.

Conant Co Ed Cougar Clinic Informed Action (Second Informed Action)

I completed my second informed action by us, Conant Co-Ed Cheer, hosting a Cougar Clinic for middle schoolers considering doing cheer in High School! This was a 2.5-hour clinic where we taught kids the fundamental cheers, stunts, and jumps instrumental for cheer. We also helped them acquire new skills and confidence needed to succeed in high school! Overall, it was an amazing opportunity to help build up upcoming high schoolers' confidence going into High School!

November Update

I have finished my 15 hours of service in Math Tutoring. Below is a picture linked to my time stamps. While tutoring students in math, I realized the impact I have on other students when I provide value. Figuring out ways to illuminate the solution for kids is a wonderful experience. Although alone, the students could come to learn something, but through a teacher, you discover the wonders of learning, and it makes it that much better of an experience.

What you’ve accomplished

This semester I’ve completed my CEP hours of 15 hours in Math tutoring. I have also completed 4 out of 5 informed actions (Robotics Stem Fair, Elite Cougar Clinic Co-Ed Cheer, participating in the winter clothes drive, and completing five extra hours of Math tutoring! I have also completed the research bibliography part of CEP! Overall great first semester!

What challenges

Some challenges I faced during the semester is being able to handle many AP classes, my sport, college apps and much more while completing 20 hours of math tutoring! I’ve further developed my understanding about myself and that no matter the situation through incredible planning you’ll be able to complete anything.

2nd Semester Plan

My plan for second semester is to complete my last informed action, and to prepare my presentation to the juniors!

January Update

Currently I have not done anything since my last update but this Martin Luther King Jr. I will be either donating books for the Community Collection Drive or be participating in Feed My Starving Children to complete my final informed action. After I will be done with all the requirements for CEP and be ready to start working on my presentation that will be presented to the Juniors 25th.
