Climate change can threatened not just human's lives, but including the flora and fauna’s.Well some might think climate change might not effect us NOW but as years passed by we can actually see the changes in our nature. By making small changes it’ll make a big difference in upcoming few years. The United Nations has warned us that the sea level across the world are rising faster than ever, meaning we urgently need to take an action.Chunks of ice in the Antartica mostly have broken apart. Imagine the animals that lives in antarttica, the polar bears begins to starve, floats on the ice chunks. The ice shelves are floating and melting slowly which causes the sea level to increase rapidly. We don’t have much time left! “There is no longer any time for delay,” written in Secretary-General of the United Nations,Antonio Guterres’s recent report.

Climate change affects the environment, natural resources, economy and other aspects of life in all nations of the world. The programme aims to help people understand the impact of global warming today and increase "climate literacy" among young people. It is also encouraging innovative teaching approaches to integrate climate change education in school and by raising awareness about climate change as well as enhancing non-formal education programmes through media, networking and partnerships.Impacts related to climate change are evident across regions and in many sectors important to society such as human health, agriculture and food security, water supply, transportation, energy, ecosystems, and others and are expected to become increasingly disruptive in the coming decades.

By,
Asha
Yasmin
Ain
Sharifah
Balqis

What does the agreement require countries to do?

The agreement requires all countries to take action, while recognizing their differing situations and circumstances. Under the Agreement, countries are responsible for taking action on both mitigation and adaptation.Besides that, the UN tasked countries to submit plans detailing how they intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Those plans were technically referred to as intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs). Also, they have an obligation to implement these plans, and if they do, it will bend the curve downward in the projected global temperature rise. The agreement not only formalizes the process of developing national plans, but also it provides a binding requirement to assess and review progress on these plans. This mechanism will require countries to continuously upgrade their commitments and ensure that there will be no backtracking.

(125 words)
By : Batrisyia Nur Aisyah,Raja Balqish & Auni Natasha

The Paris Agreement reached the minimum requirements necessary to enter into force 5th October 2016. At least 55 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions have ratified the agreement, which encourages participating nations to implement practices that ensure global temperatures will not rise more than 2 degrees Celsius. The latest nations to enter into the agreement are India and the European Union (EU). India ratified the Paris Agreement on 2nd October 2016. According to the World Resources Institute, India contributes 4.1 percent of total global emissions. The EU voted jointly in favor of the agreement on 4th October 2016, but each member nation is responsible for its own contribution under the agreement. The United States and China each ratified the Agreement just before the G20 Summit, on September 2016. Because the agreement is non-binding.

By anis rumaysa and nur liana

Agriculture is the single largest employer in the world, providing livelihoods for 40 per cent of today’s global population. It is the largest source of income and jobs for poor rural households.500 million small farms worldwide, most still rainfed, provide up to 80 per cent of food consumed in a large part of the developing world. Investing in smallholder women and men is an important way to increase food security and nutrition for the poorest, as well as food production for local and global markets.Since the 1900s, some 75 per cent of crop diversity has been lost from farmers’ fields. Better use of agricultural biodiversity can contribute to more nutritious diets, enhanced livelihoods for farming communities and more resilient and sustainable farming systems. If women farmers had the same access to resources as men, the number of hungry in the world could be reduced by up to 150 million.1.4 billion people have no access to electricity worldwide – most of whom live in rural areas of the developing world. Energy poverty in many regions is a fundamental barrier to reducing hunger and ensuring that the world can produce enough food to meet future demand.

By Amir,Adib

What happens if a country doesn't live up to it's commitments?

The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warned that nearly every country will need to significantly scale up the commitments made under the 2015 Paris climate accord if humans hope to avoid disaster. Under that agreement, 195 countries pledged to cut their greenhouse-gas emissions to try to keep global warming under two degrees Celsius. If a country fails to live up it's commitments, the greenhouse gas in the atmosphere will increase, causing climate change. Climate change not only causes rising average temperatures but also extreme weather events, shifting wildlife populations and habitats, rising seas, and a range of other impacts that are very dangerous towards us humans and animals. Other than that, countries which emmited a lot of greenhouse gas will have to pay expensive carbon tax which is priced at 70USD per ton of carbon. That country would also have to cut subsidies for the fossil fuel industry to reduce emissions. Besides that, other countries would need to increase their commitment to keep the temperature rise at low otherwise the goal of overcoming climate change will be hard to achieve.

-heaux
