One scorching summer afternoon, a famished fox was roaming through the vineyards. As he walked, he spotted a cluster of plump, ripe grapes hanging high from a trellis. The grapes looked delicious, and the fox’s mouth watered at the thought of tasting them.

Determined to reach them, the fox leapt with all his might, but the grapes remained tantalizingly out of reach. He tried again and again, stretching his body as far as he could, but he still could not grasp the fruit. After many attempts, the fox was tired and frustrated.

He sat down under the vine and looked at the grapes with a scowl. “Those grapes are probably sour and not worth the effort,” he said dismissively. “I don’t need them anyway.”

With that, the fox walked away, trying to convince himself that he hadn’t really wanted the grapes.

The moral of the story: It’s easy to criticize what you cannot obtain.
