Oxymoron: An oxymoron is a figure of speech containing words that seem to contradict each other.
By referring to Beauty as a 'charming' yet 'sweet-tempered' 'creature', Beaumont dramatically emphasises her unique nature. Beauty is portrayed as elegant and likeable, but the fact that she is a perceivable 'creature', or animal, implies that she cannot be controlled. She has independence.

Imagery: Imagery helps the reader to visualise what the author is writing more realistically. By the author stating men as "treacherous, corrupt and ungrateful heart" under human form to the Beast this shows the Beauty's values and how she doesn't judge people based on looks but on personality. Moreover, the use of imagery helps portray Beauty as a humble character.

Antonia: "The little Beauty;" so that, as she grew up, she still went by the name of Beauty, which made her sisters very jealous.Conflict is a literary device used for expressing a resistance the protagonist of the story finds in achieving his aims or dreams. The conflict is a discord that can have external aggressors or can even arise from within the self. this quote is conflict because bell's two sisters were jealous of her beauty and didn’t like it so it could have created conflict between the sisters.
