How did the American public feel about the Vietnam war? Did these feelings change over time? How did Vietnam affect people’s lives(soldiers/citizens?

The American Public thought very negatively about the war and did not feel it was the right choice to go into it at all. Throughout the war the American Public still thought it was a bad idea, and nobody ever truly agreed to go and fight in Vietnam. The war affected many people, in which they were losing loved ones. So many people were dying on the field and the people who did not pass in the war were not welcomed back very positively.

In the war, president Eisenhower was in charge of assisting the military Advisory Group in order to be trained for the Vietnam War. Eisenhower was a president who wanted peace and prosperity throughout his presidency, and he was known for it. President Eisenhower also believed that thins took time, you could not change things suddenly and expect for it all to work out. Eisenhower had believed in the domino effect, and was running for one reason. He wanted to end all wars, and prevent having another World War or another Holocaust. Eisenhower agreed with Truman and the fact that they both wanted to stop the spread of communism rather than have it spread to other countries. The development of this war had started when President Eisenhower gave the leader of Southern Vietnam 2 billion dollars. Because he believed in the domino theory so strongly he felt the need to stop the spread of communism because he was afraid that the United States would become communist after Vietnam did. And Eisenhower's main goal in his presidency as to stop the spread of communism completely.
