To keep the building safe and looking good, they either have to invest in expensive protective coatings like galvanization or hide the steel entirely behind cladding, which changes the overall look and bulk of the building.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Vulnerability to Extreme Heat</strong></p><p> Even though steel does not burn, it loses its strength rapidly during a fire and can buckle under the building's weight.
