Tyrannies are rulers of city-states that take power through murder or through other forceful actions.
Tyrannies were the third form of ruling in ancient Greece. The tyrants may have sounded like evil rulers, but most of them weren't necessarily bad. Although, each tyrant usually ruled for only a short period of time. The main reason for this is because in some of the city-states, the tyrants became greedy and harsh, so people would just go ahead and overthrow the tyrant king.

Monarchies were benevolent rulers and distinguishable from tyrannies. Monarchy kings also had a council of advisers to help them . The eldest prince would be the monarchy king's successor.
Monarchies were the first form of ruling in ancient Greece. They lived in palaces in the capital of their city-state. When there was no male successor, the monarch's military advisers would fight to be the new monarch king, although the daughter could take the throne depending on what the king and the government choose to do

Direct Democracy is a form of government that can be ruled by anyone in the area that is being ruled. There were a few selected by lottery to be a jury of sorts, and then there were the aristocrats and generals at the top. Representative Democracy is a form of government that is mainly ruled by one main representative of the state or country.
Direct Democracy was the fourth and final form of ruling in ancient Greece. The only Greeks who were aloud to participate in the Assemblies were men who were over the age 18 (I think), born into Greece (no foreigners), and NOT slaves. Representative democracy is used here in the USA.
