 I would not recommend firestorm by David Klass unless you are a very young boy into science fiction. Most young people don't care about the basis of a plot, and but more about the concept. This was another problem for me, the book didn't have much of a plot leading anywhere. His writing lacked proper punctuation along with proper sentences. And overall is a 2 star. In the beginning jack's flee from these "aliens" keeps you engaged and curious. But as you keep on reading you notice that the problem. Jack is fleeing, and it's been like that most of the book. Although this book is very entertaining the overall plot is slightly convoluted and difficult to follow at times. Throughout the book you meet very different characters with different ideals, this is the books greatest strength. But you can also try to figure out the mystery yourself before the story tells you. You get to see each of the thoughts and perspective of each main character which allows you to get to know them better. The writing style is unique and part of the world building in a lot of ways. I found the actual plot, particularly the "twists", as well as the characters, especially the villains, to be lacking. Luke is the third child of his family. For most of his life, Luke and his family have hidden him in their dying farm from the population police, trying to capture all families and children with more than three children. One day in his attic, he sees a family across with already two children have movement in the attic. Assuming they have a third child, Luke sneaks into the other home and finds a girl named Jen. After recognizing each other as third children, they become friends and Jen tells him of her idea to protest at the capital for third children rights, where she communicates with other third children online. When Jen gets ready for the protest, Luke decides to stay home in the attic. When Jen doesn’t respond any of Luke’s messages in days, he goes to her house and finds out from her father Jen and the protesters were killed at the protest.
