I have a dilemma and I need advice. My father could get in a lot of trouble with the nazis. I am a 12 year old girl living in denmark. My family is being affected by the war in many ways. 

I have told my father that he could stop helping the nazis and give them bad medicine. I have a problem with this because it could get him into prison or killed. This could also lead back to our family and get us all killed. Should I tell him not to do it? I am unsure. 


Have i done the right thing by giving him the idea? Or is it too risky to do to the soldiers.  Should I tell him not to do it? I am unsure.

  • “I remember I was dreaming about a bee. A giant bumblebee. It was buzzing in my ear; it was going to sting me. I opened my eyes and sat up with a start, but the buzzing didn’t stop.” (p. 1)

    • The buzzing was the planes in the air dropping leaflets.The significance of this quote is that it started the story.

    She would have been caught but the people helped her.the book could have ended right there

    She knows it is wrong but she does it for her countryShe realizes that killing germans is like germans killing jews.

I don’t feel any different than anyone else, and I’m not treated differently. Now will I have to be only a Jew? Is being a Jew all that’s important about me? The very name Eichmann makes me feel sick to my stomach.” (p. 57)

    She cant accept that they are killing people just because they are jewish. Lisa could be sent to one of these camps.



    1. “ ‘I’m afraid there will be no service tonight at the synagogue,’ Father continues. ‘Rabbi Melchior told everyone at the early service that he’ll be closing the  synagogue. He’s going on holiday.’
    I almost laugh. The rabbi going on holiday on Rosh Hashanah?
    Then it hits me.” (p.62)

    It is getting so bad that people need to move out of their places
