I am a 12 year old girl living in denmark. I opened my eyes and sat up with a start, but the buzzing didn’t stop.” (p. 1)<br><br></li></ol><div>The buzzing was the planes in the air dropping leaflets.The significance of this quote is that it started the story.</div><div><br></div><ol><li>“I leap off, dragging my bag, run into the grass and trees beside the stop, and finish throwing up. Then I sink down by my sack. I’m weak, I’m shaking. I think I’m crying, and my mouth tastes terrible. I want to go home. How did I get myself into this? I think back to the streetcar. All those people – they saved me. Maybe they saved my life.” (p. 29)<br><br></li></ol><div><br>She would have been caught but the people helped her.the book could have ended right there</div><div><br></div><ol><li>“She whispers to me, ‘That was for Mama and Papa. How will we keep ourselves better than them?” (p.46)<br><br></div><div>She knows it is wrong but she does it for her countryShe realizes that killing germans is like germans killing jews.</div><div><br></div><ol><li>“ ‘No, Father, it can’t be!’ I cry. I’m not willing to accept what he’s getting at. What does it matter that we are Jewish? I don’t feel any different than anyone else, and I’m not treated differently. Now will I have to be only a Jew? Is being a Jew all that’s important about me? The very name Eichmann makes me feel sick to my stomach.” (p. 57)<br><br></li></ol><div>She cant accept that they are killing people just because they are jewish. Lisa could be sent to one of these camps.</div><div><br><br><br></div><ol><li>“ ‘I’m afraid there will be no service tonight at the synagogue,’ Father continues. ‘Rabbi Melchior told everyone at the early service that he’ll be closing the&nbsp; synagogue. He’s going on holiday.’</li></ol><div>I almost laugh.
