-after Lenin's death, The Bolsheviks are left without a leader. Obviously Trotsky would be the best candidate. Trotsky, Bukharin, Kamenev, Zinoviev and Stalin formed a collective leadership of party and they're all struggling for power. As they're fought amongst themselves for control with propaganda pamphlet and public disputes, Stalin kept out of it which makes him seems better than everyone. None of the leaders saw Stalin as one of their threats and concentrating on discrediting other leaders which again makes Stalin looks better. In 1928, the party is now divided by the issue of industrialization. Stalin used his power and loyal support in the party to outvote the right. He ruthlessly eliminated the other members of the collective leadership which made him the only one solely in command. He used his powers that would make people vote in his favor and rose to become the leader with the backing of his loyal followers.
