The Board of Education happened because a father wanted their black child to go to an all white school because the all black school was too far away. The father sued the school for not allowing their child in. The final ruling from the supreme court ended all segregation in public school. This was important in the Civil Rights Movement because it was one of the first public buildings across the nation to be desegregated.
