Our students have come up with very elaborate systems to try and cheat in exams using chatgpt. Including things like taking brief pictures after distracting the teacher, and having someone outside sending it to chatgpt, then sending the answer back to a smartwatch display. Essentially chatgpt gets almost the perfect grade in the exam so we should rethink it all, but who has time for that...

for an essay, our students have to analyze a study critically on their own and with two AI models. They need to compare the three performances and insights. But since most of them are using ChatGPT to generate the essay in the first place, chatbots are comparing chatbots. I still think it's a nice idea though to integrate chatbots into the course

My experience with using custom AI models as tutors has been underwhelming, as students prefer commercially-available AI models (especially ChatGPT since I believe they mostly haven't realised that Claude (Sonnet 4) is currently the best for coding).
