3d. First, look at the piece you're currently working on. Try to identify at least two other strategies for writing the piece than the one you're currently using. For instance, if you're writing a narrative, what are some other ways you could begin the piece? If you're working on an argument piece, how could you potentially organize it differently? Once you've identified and described alternate strategies, discuss what the advantages and drawbacks would be of approaching the piece in that alternate way.

The piece I am currently working on is an informative piece. I am trying to inform my readers of the benefits of all types of support groups. I chose this notebook piece because I don't think I portrayed my assignment as well as I would have liked. I started off by showing some statistics on how LGBT youth are more likely to experience mental health conditions because of the awful way they are treated. Then I proceeded to explain what support groups are and how they help. There are so many support groups for the LGBT community and I feel like if they did not exist, then there would be a significant amount of suicides among youth and adults. I was trying to inform my readers of how necessary it is to have these support groups. I was thinking of other ways I could make it informative; start it off by explaining benefits of support groups, why they are created and how they have helped and continue to help the people within the LGBT community. I could also try to make my audience aware of the reasons why LGBT people need support groups, tie it into the benefits of having a support groups. I feel like the only way to do that besides using statistics is using actual opinions of people who have benefited from their support groups.
