My goal was to get 8 hours of sleep. My target audience is high school students. Normally I only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep. Since I was getting so little sleep I started to fall asleep in class and this started to negatively impact my grades. So to accomplish my goal I made three steps to succeed. My first step was time management. My second step was having a better sleep environment. My third step was eliminating naps.

Time Management

My first step was to manage my time better. One of the main reasons that I got so little sleep was that I would always come home from school and play the game until 11 then i would do my homework and by the time I was done with my homework I would shower so I was not getting to bed until like 1 sometimes even 1:30. So what I did to fix this was. I stopped playing the game during the week. Then I dropped a class to get a study hall so I could get homework done easily. Another way that I managed my time was that I went to Panera to do homework. Also a nice fact about time management is that according to sleep.org going to places to study increases teenagers sleep time.

Another problem that I have when I try to sleep is my sleep environment. Another reason why I go to sleep so late is because when I try to sleep and would lay down and nothing would happen i would just stay up. So I looked up how to fix my sleep environment. I was given six facts from helathysleep.med.harvard.edu to improve my sleep time. The six facts were 1) avoid drinking caffeine 2) establish a sleeping routine 3) avoid eating 2 hours before sleep 4) Turn off all devices 5) Make sure room is completely dark 6) Clear your head

So after I stopped playing the game during the week if I did not go to panera when I went home I would just go to sleep for like 4 hours wake up and not be able to go back to sleep. This was the hardest part of the whole challenge. What I did to stop myself from napping was that I started to go to Panera everyday and I started to go to every school event during the week like basketball games.
