Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were one of the first females to host a national women's rights convention in New York. As a result of this, New York eventually passed laws allowing women to keep there property and wages . Alcohol abuse was very popular by men, women, and even kids! Reformers linked alcohol abuse as to the acts of crime, which promoted the ban of alcohol in the first place. Other reasons included the breakup of families, and also mental illness. It took around 30 years (1820's-1850) for Maine to ban the sale of alcohol which caused other states to soon follow with similar laws.
