"Color-blindness" refers to a number of things when discussing race: 1) a societal disregard for race as a determining factor in opportunity, ability, and standing; and 2) a personal claim to "see no color" ie ignore race as a concept. <br>2. Aiming for societal and personal colorblindness would be productive if minority races did not already face systemic and regular racism; however, given the real existence of racism and prejudice, colorblindness in fact detracts from recognizing such things as Black and POC beauty and culture by dismissing all peoples as "colorless" and therefore ignoring the identity of pride in one's race in face of historical and ongoin discrimination. </div>]]></description>
