The main takeaways were: 
1. We have to stop the deficit mindset, where we think students are not ready. Instead how can we support the students we have in our classrooms? 
2. Culturally Pedagogy--includes academic achievement, cultural competence, and socio-political/critical consciousness. 
3. But RP recommends they have "high intensity support" . 

Also about 63% of California high school students complete Algebra 2 successfully. The article on why Academia is still so White is a sobering reminder of how the tenure process privileges the research of those who align with a particular status quo. Larabee argues that quantification is an epistemic projection, pulling the curtain back on an objectivists' "view from nowhere." The piece on White fragility is a good reminder of whose experiences of racial comfort are privileged.
