         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><strong>There are many functioning political parties in the Czech Republic. The main two parties are the Civic Democratic Party, which is slightly conservative, and the Czech Social Democratic Party, whose members are liberal.  There are many other less known political parties in the Czech Republic.  The Czech Republic is separated by regions and each region is ran by an elected government. Cities, towns, and villages also have their own local governments. In the Czech Republic you must be 18 or older to vote.</strong></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The people of the Czech live by a Parliamentary Government. The government system is ran by the President. The president appoints a prime minister to oversee that the system is working. The prime minister forms a cabinet to help with the executive functions of government.</strong> <strong>The people of The Czech Republic elect there own President. This system is fairly new because it was just 1992 when the Czech Republic became noncommunist.</strong></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>By 1995 the soviets freed most of Czechoslovakia from Germany.</strong></div><div><strong>Czechoslovakia regained Sudetenland and banished over 2 million Germans. </strong></div><div><strong>Czechoslovakia joined the Soviet union and became a communist region. In 1989, after years of struggling with a communist government, Czechoslovakia became the Czech Republic, left the Soviet union, and the people were freed from the soviets. Now the Check republic is part of NATO. They have been ruled by several presidents and prime ministers. Now, the Czech republic is known for having one of the strongest eastern European economies. In 1989 once the communist government left, Czechoslovakia created an stronger economy,  They decided business could operate without constant government control. New businesses were opened as a result of this. These businesses have been good for the economy and the Czech is benefiting of off them.</strong></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Many Czechs work in service industries.The service industry was very weak during the time of the communist nation, but it has since developed quickly.  In the Czech there are many private serviced banks. The economy of the Czech Republic relies on tourism Hotels, restaurants. The Czech benefit from the millions of tourists who visit each year. The Czech government owns many castles scattered throughout the country. These castles attract tourists and the Government makes money of off them.</strong></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>What soon was Czechoslovakia was formed during world war 1. Leaders wanted to make a state made up of Czechs and Slovaks, once Austria- Hungary was dismantled Czechoslovakia was created with a part of it.   After the Czechs felt that the government was not in favor of minorities a self run government was called into play.  In 1938  Hitler threatened the czechs with war if they did not obey his orders. British and French leaders obliged and gave over Sudetenland. In 1939 just a couple of months before the beginning of world war 2 Germany claimed the rest of Czechoslovakia and ran it under German control. The population of Czechoslovakia declined during the holocaust.  </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The communist rulers were against religion, but now the Czechs are free to practice what they want. Most people practice no religion. About ¼ of people are  roman catholic. Other churches are the Orthodox Church, the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, and the Czech Brethren. Since the holocaust eliminated most Jews from the population, people are working to regain Jewish culture.</strong></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The majority of the czech republic lives in cities or towns. The largest city in the Czech is  Prague.</strong></div><div><strong>Housing in the Czech Republic is very minimal. Most people live in low quality apartment buildings built during the communist period.</strong> <strong> Although housing in the Czech Republic is minimal there are many castles and beautifully designed structures for tourists to visit. Gothic architecture is also very common in structures.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Sports are very popular in the Czech. In this photo a game called Volleyball is being played.&nbsp; This game involves kicking a ball over a low net. In the Czech Republic for recreation people play soccer or watch sporting events, people go to pubs or parties, and during the winter many skate or ski. Football is the most popular sport to watch in the czech republic. Ice hockey, tennis, and kickball are close behind. For recreation Czechs often look to nature, school, and sports.  Forests, fields, mountains, and lakes are frequently visited. Swimming in lakes, camping, and hiking are common activities in good weather. Children are often highly involved in their academics and activities. Dancing is a common activity for boys and girls.</strong></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

During the communist period the government tried to eliminate the arts but many resisted. <strong>&nbsp;</strong>In the 1300s the Czechs first major work of literature was written. Many other outstanding authors followed until the 1900s. Although artistic ideas were limited by government control artists spoke out against it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The Czech republic diet is rather similar to the diet of the Germans. <strong> </strong>Pork, boiled dumplings, and pickled cabbage are very common foods. Apple strudel is a favored dessert. Several types of wine and beer are made in the Czech republic. <strong> </strong>Ducklings and sauerkraut  is eaten often in the Czech republic. Little pancakes known Palachinki with powdered sugar is a common dessert. This photo is a very popular Czech brand of beer "Staropramen”.  To order a beer in the Czech is cheaper to order than water.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Czech cooking and eating habits have been developing into a healthier lifestyle, but traditional Czech recipes are still very popular. Czech meals tend to be high in calories, fat and sugar. Sauces and condiments are often eat on or on the side of a meal. Meals in the Czech republic often start with soup such as sauerkraut soup or dill soup. Then there is  a main course such as beef goulash or pork schnitzel. Meats and fried foods are very common. Side dishes like dumplings or cabbage may also be served. Honey cakes known as medovnik or a fruit filled dumpling would be served for dessert. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Czech fashion is very similar to American Fashion. On the streets you can find people wearing jeans and T shirts. When going to work people dress very casual with men wearing sport jackets instead of suit jackets. Women wear pants and shirts or skirts to work. Fishing vests are very common. A fishing vest is a jacket that was originally worn by men on fishing trips but is now worn by men and women as a jacket. Clothes are very practical in the Czech Republic and often serve a purpose. Army gear is worn as an accessory. When it is hot outside women often wear swimsuits even when not in the water. Men going shirtless is not uncommon to see on the streets. Older men are often seen wearing socks and sandals.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although work clothes are very casual when going to an event it is disgraceful to not be dressed up in your finest clothing. At a formal gathering women are expected to wear evening gowns and men are expected to wear suits. Wearing loud prints is considered rude and disruptive in a public place. A modern accessory seen all over the Czech republic is a mobile phone case. This is a leather phone case that clips onto a belt. This is considered acceptable for a public event.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
