Our Group Agreements: Episcopal Academy by David Boxer

When I have participated in Cohorts or Critical Friends groups, most teachers will start by sharing their “A Game,” rather than asking for support for their most challenging work.

To set us up for success, our EA BLDS team will need to ensure we established a shared understanding of our group agreement.

You will know that you’ve established a trusting and at times, vulnerable relationship when a colleague can reveal that they are struggling with a particular challenge and trust that you can support them while not worrying that you are judging evaluating them.

Directions:
1) Reflect on and contribute to the padlet, behaviors that you consider ideal behaviors for a group.
2) Write one idea on each sticky note in padlet by selecting the "+" sign in the bottom right corner.

I believe that no matter what division we each work in, that we can gain ideas from one another. Our regularly scheduled meetings are usually idea generators for me.

I've worked with people who were somewhat very reluctant to learn from younger colleagues and often tried to replace experience with knowledge. I think that those are two different concepts. I absolutely have no problem stealing ideas from the Millennials I work with as long as I know that it will benefit my students. However, I can confidently say that I might have more experience to deal with certain situations. Collaboration is a two way street and I am looking forward to the cross-curricular meetings I am about to have with colleagues (with more knowledge and/or experience) from different departments. Who knows? Something going on in History might help me with my Level 1 French freshmen. [Marc E.]
