Auch interessant: der Harz ist mit seinem Hexentanzplatz Gegenstand vieler Mythen! Der Sage nach wurde hier immer in der Nacht zum 1. Mai ein Fest zur Verehrung der sogenannten Hagedisen (Wald- und Berggöttinnen) abgehalten. Noch heute wird jährlich die Walpurgisnacht gefeiert.

Eine der beeindruckendsten Möglichkeiten, den Hexentanzplatz zu erreichen, ist eine Fahrt mit der Kabinenbahn der Seilbahnen Thale Erlebniswelt. Bei guter Wetterlage erlebt man hier wunderbare Ausblicke in das oft mystisch wirkende Bodetal. Besonders aufregend in den Kabinenbahnen ist der Blick nach unten - durch den Glasboden in die Tiefe des Bodetals!

Personal tip: Discounted membership is available for students enrolled at the University of Göttingen, so the crowd is mostly local students — the atmosphere is relaxed and lively. Events such as HYROX and Deadlift-Workshop are organised regularly. The surrounding area is scenic and well-suited for outdoor exercise. As part of the Hochschulsport (university sports centre), members can also access a wide range of UniSport activities for a small additional fee.

Hotel Rennschuh is located in the western part of Göttingen and has several convenient bus connections from the main station.

DIRECTIONS:

From Göttingen train station, leave through the Zentrum exit and go to bus platform A. Take bus number 32, 61 or 62 and get off at “Deisterstraße”. The hotel is approximately 500 metres from the bus stop.

Alternatively, from bus platform K, take bus number 120 and get off at “Rehbachstraße”. The hotel is approximately 200 metres from this bus stop.

CHECK-IN Information:

On the day of your arrival, please check in at the hotel reception. The exact check-in time should be confirmed in your booking confirmation, as current hotel listings give different starting times.

DIRECTION TO GOETHE-INSTITUT:

Take bus number 120 from “Rehbachstraße” to Göttingen Bahnhof/ZOB. From the main station, walk for a few minutes to the Goethe-Institut at Jutta-Limbach-Straße 3.

Hannoversche Straße 51 - 53

Hotel Astoria is located on Hannoversche Straße, close to the bus stop “Grüner Weg”. The hotel is well connected to Göttingen city centre by public transport.

DIRECTIONS:

You can reach Hotel Astoria from Göttingen train station by taking bus number 180 in the direction of Nörten-Hardenberg or bus number 185 in the direction of Holzerode or Ebergötzen. Get off at the stop “Grüner Weg”. The hotel is located directly across the street from the bus stop.

CHECK-IN Information:

On the day of your arrival, please check in at the hotel reception. Check-in is generally available from 3:00 p.m. The hotel is reported to have a 24-hour reception. At Sunday, 02.08. and Monday, 03.08. you will get a free breakfast from 07:00 to 09:30 in Hotel Astoria. After that, you would need to organise breakfast yourself.

DIRECTION TO GOETHE-INSTITUT:

Take bus number 180 or 185 from “Grüner Weg” to Göttingen Bahnhof/ZOB. From the main station, walk for a few minutes to the Goethe-Institut at Jutta-Limbach-Straße 3. The Goethe-Institut is located close to Göttingen main station.

Stumpfe Eiche 20

XLAB offers accommodation in the new XLAB Meeting Centre, which includes residential rooms and shared areas. The centre is located close to the University of Göttingen’s North Campus.

DIRECTIONS:

You can reach XLAB from Göttingen train station by taking bus number 21 or 22 in the direction of Nikolausberg. Get off at the stop “Kellnerweg”, which is located directly in front of the XLAB laboratory. From there, continue on foot for approximately 5 to 10 minutes to the XLAB Meeting Centre at Stumpfe Eiche 20.

CHECK-IN Information:

Someone from our team from the Goethe-Institut will be there on site to assist you with the check-in, so there's no need to worry.

DIRECTION TO GOETHE-INSTITUT:

From the bus stop “Stumpfe Eiche” or “Im Hassel”, take bus number 41 or 42 towards the city centre or Göttingen Bahnhof. Get off near “Auditorium” or at “Göttingen Bahnhof/ZOB” and walk to the Goethe-Institut at Jutta-Limbach-Straße 3. The Goethe-Institut is only a few minutes’ walk from the main station.

Mey Homes offers a shared apartment that gives you an insight into german student life. Together with your classmates and two german students you will live in a private house with a private bathroom, a shared, well-equipped kitchen and a small garden.

DIRECTIONS:

You reach the Mey Homes from the train Station in Göttingen by bus Nr. 180 in the direction of Nörten Hardenberg and exit after eight minutes at the station "Göttingen Lutteranger". Mey Homes is in walkable distance (30 Minutes) to Goethe-Institut.

CHECK-IN Information:

On the day of your arrival you will find a key in a password-saved key box at the house. Further information will follow.

DIRECTION TO GOETHE-INSTITUT:

The way from Mey Homes "Hannoversche Straße 110" to the Goethe-Institut takes approximately 10 minutes by bus. The bus number 32 or 180 drive in front of the house to Göttingen Kreuzbergring on a regular basis.

The way from Mey Homes "Zehntscheuerstraße 13" to the Goethe Institut takes approximately 25 minutes. First, take the bus number 31 (Göttingen Backhausstraße) in the direction of Weende-Nord to Göttingen Kreuzbergring, then you can quickly walk to the Institut within 5 minutes.

The way from Veyel "An der Sankt Vinzenz Kirche 10, Wohnung 35" to the Goethe Institute takes approximately 25 minutes. First, take bus number 21 (Göttingen Goldschmidtstraße) in the direction of Zietenterrassen to Göttingen Platz der Göttinger Sieben, and continue by walk for 8 minutes until you reach the institute.

The way from Geladaris "Egelsberg 25" to the Goethe Institut take approximately 20 minutes. First, take bus number 32 (Göttingen Posthof) in the direction of Weende-Nord to Göttingen Kreuzbergring, and then continue 3 minutes by walk.

We are pleased to welcome you to our German course starting on 3 August 2026. Here is some important information for your first day:

All courses take place at the Goethe-Institut Göttingen, on the ground floor (Rooms 1 and 2) or on the first floor (Rooms 3–9). Your course will take place either in the morning (8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) or in the afternoon (1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.). In addition to the language courses, we offer a varied cultural and leisure programme (in the morning, afternoon, or in the evenings/on weekends).

If you are signed in for a morning-course, please arrive at the Goethe-Institut Göttingen on the first day of the course (3 August 2026) at 7:45 a.m. If you are signed in for an afternoon-course, please arrive at 11:00 a.m. at the institute. There you will find out your course level and your course schedule. We will help you find your classroom. You will register for your course (please bring your passport). After registration, you will receive your scholarship allowance and your travel reimbursement. Please note that the registration process and the payment may take up to two days.

wir freuen uns, dass Sie ab dem 03. August 2026 bei uns Deutsch lernen werden. Hier einige Informationen für den ersten Kurstag:

Alle Kurse finden am Goethe-Institut Göttingen statt, im Erdgeschoss (Raum 1 und 2) bzw. in der 1. Etage (Raum 3–9). Sie lernen entweder vormittags (08:30–13:00 Uhr) oder nachmittags (13:30–18:00 Uhr). Neben den Kursen bieten wir Ihnen ein vielfältiges Kultur- und Freizeitprogramm an (morgens, nachmittags oder abends/am Wochenende).

Wenn Sie in einen Vormittagskurs eingetragen sind, kommen Sie bitte am ersten Kurstag (03. August 2026) zwischen 07:30 Uhr und 08:00 Uhr zum Goethe-Institut Göttingen. Sind Sie in einem Nachmittagskurs, kommen Sie bitte um 11:00 Uhr an das Goethe-Institut. Dort erfahren Sie, auf welchem Niveau und zu welcher Zeit Ihr Kurs stattfindet. Wir helfen Ihnen dabei, Ihren Kursraum zu finden. Sie registrieren sich für Ihren Kurs (bitte Reisepass bereithalten). Nach der Registrierung erhalten Sie Ihr Taschengeld und die Reisekostenerstattung. Bitte haben Sie Verständnis, dass die Registrierung und die Auszahlung bis zu zwei Tage in Anspruch nehmen können.
